Environmental & Safety Excellence
Because we value the safety of our employees and our neighbors, there is only one goal we can set for our environmental and safety performance: zero. That translates into zero environmental impacts and zero safety incidents. We call it the Zero Factor. It pushes us to aim for perfection in our environmental and safety performance.
We strive to eliminate environmental effects as we produce our products. When wastes or releases cannot be avoided, we manage our processes according to the following priority:

Reduction of wastes at the source

On-site recycling

Off-site recycling

Treatment to reduce the toxicity and volume of the release.
In addition, we have established a goal to reduce our carbon footprint emissions by 4 percent from our 2006 baseline by 2009.Safety is a priority, and we are proud of our safety record. Our safety incidence rate (the number of recordable illnesses and injuries per 100 employee per year) is about half that of the average for manufacturing companies. However, with zero as our goal, we will relentlessly work to achieve excellence in our safety performance.
